Canon Circumstances (-14)

Klaus has lived a life of trauma and bad coping mechanisms. He's suffered abuse of all varieties (mental, emotional, and physical) as a child/adolescent, he fell into a roughly 13yr spiral of booze and drugs to avoid powers he was terrified of having.

He sustained a significant amount of physical torture from two skilled assassins, lived through 10 months of the Vietnam War and suffered the death of the first real relationship partner he's had and watched him die in his arms on the battlefield.

He's been a part of stopping two (2) Apocalypses in two (2) different timelines of his world. The last 3 years have been good to him (that whole second apocalypse thing aside) and until his brother showed up with news of the world ending (again), he had even been completely sober for 3yrs. So he's built some better coping mechanisms along the way, but he still has a plethora of baggage regarding past issues.

Klaus suffers from depression, anxiety, & PTSD; he is a recovering (and relapsed) addict with heavy-to-severe substance dependency.

Murder Fog Event (-10)

Day 015

THREAD LINK: The body (-1)

Klaus searches for his brother with Max and finds Five's body. He tries to manifest his spirit to no avail and an unsettling emptiness. This marks the 2nd loss of a brother (and 4th significant loss in his life, overall).

THREAD LINK: The burial + gravemarker (-3)

Klaus attempts to help Raylan bury Five, but crumbles in the attempt; he also places a marker that Malcolm made on Five's grave. He's relatively numb at this point, but it won't last.

THREAD LINK: The breakdown (-6)

After Five is buried, Klaus goes back to his room, empty and alone, where he proceeds to have a rather epic breakdown and panic attack to boot. Doc helps ease him through the worst of it. This was a long time coming, tangled up in losing Ben at home (twice now, by all technicalities) and knowing he is really gone for good, losing Five here barely days after he showed up in this place, and a general sort of "giant list of unresolved traumas he's buried for too long"; it all exploded into one giant mess, and it's the sort of thing that will stick with him for a long time

Stranger Danger (-3)

THREAD LINK: The Stranger (-3)
Klaus finds the Stranger on the other side of the crack in the earth and tries to channel or manifest him. He feels a darkness, and a coldness from The Stranger, unlike anything he's felt before. The consequences to this go unknown until he eventually sleeps for the first time in a week by Day 023. He will be continually haunted by that cold darkness in nightmares from here, out.

The Hunt (- 5)

Day 035

THREAD LINK: They're coming for me (- 5)
After spending a few days worried about food supply and creepy noises, Klaus ends up caught outside after dark during The Hunt. He is chased down by a mostly-unseen monstrosity and essentially ripped to shreds.
